Status

Is it us or is it you? The live state of our site, platform, scanners and vulnerability data, asked of the platform itself.

This page asks our platform how it is doing and shows you the answer, with nobody in between.

Current state

Checking the platform…

How to read it

Five parts, each in one of five states.

  • Operational — working as sold.
  • Degraded — working, but slower or thinner than it should be. The detail column says how.
  • Down — not working.
  • Maintenance — inside a window we announced beforehand.
  • Unknown — we could not check. We treat that as bad news, not good.

Each state is worked out from measurements the platform takes of itself: how long work has been queued, when the last scan ran and how it ended, how fresh the vulnerability data is, and how long the oldest piece of work has been waiting for a human. None of it can be turned green by hand.

This board is about our own platform while we are doing a piece of work for you. It is not a watch on your product: nothing here is monitoring anybody's components, and nothing here sends anybody an alert. Outside business hours the board says so rather than showing a fault, because nobody is on call and we would rather write that down than imply otherwise.

If something is wrong

Customers: reply to any message from us, or write to the contact named in your statement of work. We work business hours and read it then. Nobody here is on call, so there is no number that reaches somebody at three in the morning, and we would rather write that down than let you find out on a bad night. If a clock is running on a weakness in one of your products, say so in the first line so we know what you are working to — but the clock is yours, the judgement is yours, and so is the decision at the end of it.

Everyone else: contact us. If you have found a security problem in our systems, our disclosure policy is the right route, and we would much rather hear from you than not.

Planned maintenance

We announce it in advance, here and to the contacts in your portal, and we schedule it outside office hours where we can. The notice period and the usual window are shown above, straight from the platform.

What we deliberately do not publish

We do not publish an uptime percentage. We do not measure one to a standard we would be happy to see quoted back at us, and we do not sell availability: there is no service level anywhere in our contract, nothing we owe you inside a fixed time, and nobody on call. A number we could not defend would be worse than no number.

We publish nothing about a particular customer, product or finding. This page carries states, ages and counts, and nothing else.

Why we built it ourselves

A status page hosted by somebody else is a page we cannot fully vouch for, at exactly the moment we need to. This one is a plain page on this site that fetches one small file from our platform. The two are deployed separately, so this page stays up when the platform does not.

The trade is honest: if our platform is down, the file does not arrive, and this page tells you that instead of showing you a green board.
